Resource Directory Guidelines for Participating Vendors and Organizations

The North Suburban Library System (NSLS) is one of nine multi-type library systems in the state of Illinois. Members include Public Libraries (49), Academic Libraries (31), Public Schools (97), Private Schools (33) and Special Libraries (75). NSLS offers a wide range of services to its members including workshops for library staff, such as training on the most up-to-date library technologies and services, group health insurance, Digital Past, a local history/genealogy project, NorthStarNet, a community information network, and a variety of other e-resources.

Three Categories of Listings

Our Resource Directory allows NSLS members easy, online access to information about products and services available from trusted companies/organizations of interest to libraries. Vendors and other organizations have the opportunity to promote their products and services to a wide variety of potential customers at a reasonable rate.

• Standard Listing: includes vendor/organization name, and contact information $120
• Deluxe Listing: includes vendor/organization name and contact information, and link to web site $200
• Premium Listing: includes vendor/organization name and contact information, short product description, web site link and company logo $300

Qualifications

A listing in the Resource Directory is good for one year from the time it is approved. All companies who wish to be listed must first meet the following qualifications:

1. All company listings are subject to NSLS approval.
2. The company, not NSLS, is responsible for the accuracy of their listing information.
3. All companies wishing to be listed in the resource directory must be able to provide references upon request. References may be contacted to ensure that companies will provide reputable services.
4. All companies must complete the application form and return it to Mary Witt at NSLS in order to be listed in the Resource Directory. Listings will not appear until payment has been received.
5. All companies must submit a short listing of the products and services they offer, as well as one person to be the contact for the account.
6. Affiliation with NSLS through the Resource Directory does not imply endorsement of a company, products or services by NSLS, nor does NSLS guarantee any service or product provided by a vendor in the Resource Listing.
7. A purchased listing in the resource directory includes the following: vendor/organization name and contact information. Companies may have the option to upgrade their listing to include web site link and their logo, as well as a short product description. The resource directory is an online guide only and will not be available in printed format. Participating companies will also receive a complimentary subscription to the NSLS e-newsletter nsls.info.
8. Changes or additions to listings during the year may be subject to a service fee, which will be based on the time required to make the changes.
9. Applications received without payment or references will not be listed in the online resource directory.
10. If at any time a company’s services are deemed no longer appropriate or needed for NSLS members, they may be removed from the online Resource Directory. Refunds will not be issued for the remaining portion of the subscription.
11. If at any time a company no longer wishes to be listed in the Resource Directory, they must submit a written request to Mary Witt at NSLS. Refunds will not be issued for the remaining portion of the subscription.
12. All companies listed in the Resource Directory will be notified 60 days prior to their expiration date so that they may renew their subscription. A listing will be removed immediately on the expiration date if the subscription is not renewed.
