NSLS headquarters in Wheeling will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. There will be no NSLS van deliveries on this day. NSLS will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 7. We wish you a safe and happy holiday.

Gerard Dempsey and Janet Petsche are partners with the law firm of Klein, Thorpe & Jenkins, Ltd., who write an article each month focusing on different aspects of library law. "Sometimes a library employee experiences serious financial straits from past-due debts, unpaid child support payments, tax levies or other third party obligations. If that happens, then the employing library, library district, or library system may be required to respond to a legal process that requires the library to withhold monies from the employee's wages and to pay those monies over to the employee's creditor."
