Interact with Colleagues

We offer several ways for our members to communicate with one another on a regular basis. Use the Communities of Practice (CoPs) to share ideas, connect in a face-to-face setting with networking groups, and join informative NSLS e-mail lists. Academic
Two electronic communication vehicles are available to discuss issues related to working in an academic library.

Adult Services
Online communities, networking groups, and maillists covering topics such as programming and reference.

Advocacy
Forum for library advocates to discuss state and government level issues related to the library community, promote awareness of important events, deadlines, etc., and keep current on local legislator information.

Business Managers
Online communities and networking groups covering a wide range of business related topics.

Circulation and Interlibrary Loan
Devoted to topics related to locating, obtaining, and accessing materials in all formats and providing customer service at each point in the process.

Collection Management
Communication tools for those involved in the ongoing analyzing, assessing, selecting, maintaining, and growing of library collections of materials in all formats.

Marketing
Covers wide range of topics involved with marketing, public relations, Web design and maintenance, and graphic design issues.

Network Admin (IT)
Staff dealing with IT in the library can use online communities, electronic mailing lists and networking groups to discuss and ask for tips, tricks and issues surrounding IT in their library.

Public Library Administration
Covers the various aspects of running a library, providing forums for directors and assistant directors, page supervisors, and facilities managers.

School/Youth
Useful communication formats for librarians working with children, parents, and caregivers. Topics covered provide tips and suggestions, as well as samples of best practices, enabling library staff to serve this population effectively and efficiently.

Special Interest
Covers topics that cross all job functions, such as issues for new librarians, genealogy, and supplying non-English materials for patrons.

Special Librarians
For librarians working in libraries other than public, school, and academic.

Technical Services
Covers topics such as cataloging and acquisitions.
